As part of the communications support team for the C3.ai Digital Transformation Institute, I was tasked with creating the 2020–2021 DTI Annual Report. This report features spotlighted stories and research that occurred throughout the year with a focus on how funded research mitigated the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as other areas of research such as climate and the environment. The development of this report occurred over a few months while working directly with the Communications Director of C3.ai DTI, who handled content development and copywriting. My roles for this report include the overall design, asset collection, finalization of the piece, and working directly with the identified print vendor to ensure a successful press run. The final piece is 7.5”x10”, 28 pages, saddle-stitched, and features a soft-touch cover with spot-clear foil treatment.

Working with the Education and Outreach Coordinator at NCSA, I was tasked with refreshing the SPIN program’s identity since the previously used branding for the program had become dated and unappealing. Working with Illinois’ branding guidelines at the time, I refreshed and modernized NCSA’s SPIN internship program while featuring areas of specialization within the program throughout the background artwork. As part of this project, I created a 24”x36” poster, 8.5”x11” flyer, a small postcard, certificates, stickers, and T-shirts for both the SPIN mentors and interns to wear.

As the primary designer on the XSEDE project at NCSA, I was responsible for designing the 2018 Highlights book—an annual book that presents an array of scientific accomplishments that XSEDE has helped support throughout the year. The X18 Highlights book specifically showcases 13 different stories of scientific breakthroughs made possible through access to XSEDE and the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) funding. The development of this book occurred over several months and I assisted in curating the final stories based on design and production requirements. My roles included the overall design of the piece, communicating and working with copywriters, as well as finalizing and preparing the publication for press. The final piece is 8.5”x8.5”, 32 pages, saddle-stitched, and features a matte lamination and spot gloss UV cover.

In 2018, NCSA exhibited at the Supercomputing Conference—an international conference targeted at the high-performance computing industry—where the new “Can You Imagine? We Can.” campaign debuted. For this conference, my responsibilities included collaborating with the NCSA creative team on a booth direction, working with an outside vendor to develop the booth structure, designing and illustrating the interior of the booth and exterior interactive kiosks, as well as giveaway items and merchandise for conference attendees.

During my time as an intern with ISU’s Horticulture Program in the Agricultural Department, I was tasked with creating official promotional material for the Horticulture and Landscape Management program at Illinois State University. This project was initially derived from conceptual material created for ISU's plant biology program, as part of a class project. When approached to take on this project by the Horticulture Director at ISU, I was responsible for navigating and working with Illinois State's existing identity while creating a number of deliverables. I designed a program specific trifold, a booklet for new students to the program, and an engaging cut-out activity used at college tours and booths.

I was approached by the Blue Waters team at NCSA to design a T-shirt that would be distributed at the annual Blue Waters Symposium. The team came with loose designs and ideas revolving around iconography of the various areas of science Blue Waters has helped enable. Taking this information and the team’s inspiration and vision, I created a design that features icons highlighting the areas of science Blue Waters has had an impact on, accompanied by the Blue Waters wordmark featured on the front left chest and Illinois wordmark on the left sleeve.

As part of the C3.ai Digital Transformation Institute consortium, I was tasked with creating a workshop announcement, agenda, and digital assets that were cohesive with DTI’s brand and could be templated for future workshops. Working with my director to gather all the necessary information, I then designed sleek and modern workshop assets for their upcoming event. The image featured in the left column of the material will coincide with that event’s specific workshop subject matter, creating a visual tie-in to each workshop.
